Goal Tracking
If you recall from the SMART goals, the M stood for Measurable. So you have a measurable goal, then what? Well you need a way to track it! There are multiple ways to track goals, depending on how creative you want to get with it. I’m personally the type of person who typically creates an excel spreadsheet and might use some color coding to measure certain indices.
Tracking your goal can serve a few purposes. Firstly, tracking data makes the goal more tangible. If I just say I am going to do something, but am not actually tracking it, am I really doing it? Secondly, it can help motivate you as you watch your success build up. Let’s say I decide to add a gold star for every day I reach my goal; that will make me feel good! It may even put a smile on my face at the end of each day – knowing I am making great progress toward what I set out to achieve. Finally, it can provide feedback on how you are progressing with what you set out to accomplish. If I am not able to reach my initial goal for the first week or two, I may decide to loosen up on my expectations. If it’s really easy, then I may decide to push myself a little more and modify the goal to make it a little more challenging.
Here is what I have created to track my goals for the Simply Sweet Challenge.
